Last year, Western Digital had launched a 14TB hard drive which was holding the crown of being the largest hard drive ever made. But, as per latest announcements made by the Western Digital, it is all set to launch a new 15TB Ultrastar DC HC620 HDD, which will be the biggest hard drive ever made.
The tech giant hasn’t disclosed the price of this new piece, but here’s a hint – it costs a lot!
Also, WD hasn’t also disclosed the details about where you’ll be able to buy the all new hard drive and that’s probably because WD is thinking to sell the same to enterprise customers only who are continuous demand of hard drives with big storage capacity.
One of the top competitors, Seagate, also announced last year that it was planning to launch a 16TB hard drive in 2018 which could have pulled the crown of the largest hard drive from WD’s 14TB as well the newly introduced 15TB hard drive. However, there hasn’t been any update from the Seagate on this matter ever since the initial announcements.
WD’s 15TB Ultrastar is the biggest hard drive and if you are thinking this is a massive one then switch over to SSDs and the limit simply doesn’t exist!
