Yeah, you read it right! Facebook says that it has a lot to figure out before it can make this new & combined messaging service available to its users.
Facebook recently revealed that it has been working on a new project i.e., to combine Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram messaging into one unified service. After hearing the news, users were feeling curious about this new service, but, as per latest statements by the Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, it is expected that the new messaging system might not come until 2020 or even beyond that!
Mark Zuckerberg said on the event of company’s Q4 earnings call –
The integration that we’re thinking about, we’re really early in thinking through this. There’s a lot more we need to figure out.
Not much information has been provided by the company and its CEO about the actual working of the upcoming messaging system. But, as per some news sources, Facebook wants to encrypt the users’ chat with end-to-end encryption and wants it to be consistent across all the three messaging platforms.
Talking in the Q4 earnings call event, Zuckerberg also gave a few examples to back the idea of the combined messaging system. He discussed about the kind of not-so-good experience that users could have if they need to use the Marketplace feature of the Facebook and then head back to WhatsApp for messaging. He also compared the upcoming messaging system with the iMessage.
For sure, it will be quite interesting to analyze the kind of response Facebook’s upcoming combined messaging system would receive, once it is launched. Rumors say that Facebook might also be planning to monetize all three messaging platforms by combining them together. However, as of now, no one has got any solid evidence to back this statement!
Seems like Facebook is least bothered with the one after other controversies it is getting involved into! Even after all this has happened, Facebook continues to enjoy the seat of the most loved social media.
