BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X

Both the phones feature tall screens of 18:9 aspect ratio and sport massive batteries of 4000 mAH, which are chargeable via USB-C and are also compatible with wireless charging. Coming to security, the evolve line comes with a finger print sensor located at the back side with a claimed unlock time of 0.3 seconds and a face-unlock feature with a claimed unlock time of 0.4 seconds.

The Evolve series will be featuring a 5.99 inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) FullView LTPS IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display will be having a maximum brightness of 500 nits, oleophobic coating and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.

However, the company has used different processors in both the smartphones. BlackBerry Evolve is built atop Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. It comes with Adreno 506 GPU, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The storage is expandable via microSD card slot. While, on the other hand, BlackBerry Evolve X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with Adreno 512 GPU and 6 GB of RAM. The internal storage of Evolve X is 64 GB, which is expandable up to 512 GB via microSD card slot.

The evolve line features a dual camera system at the rear with dual tone LED flash and a 16 MP front facing camera with LED flash.

BlackBerry Evolve series comes with series 7000 Aluminium frame and a textured & rubberized back panel. However, unlike the last release i.e., Key2, the evolve line won’t feature a physical QWERTY keypad.

Coming to the price, Evolve X has been priced at Rs. 34,990 (equivalent to about $510) and Evolve at Rs. 24,990 (equivalent to $365). Initially, the manufacturer, Optiemus will be making the devices available in India only, through Amazon.in, and subsequently via offline retailers. Further, the manufacturer hasn’t provided any confirmation yet regarding the international availability of the two smartphones.

Evolve and Evolve X will be made available in the month of August and September, respectively. Both will hit the market with launch offers including cash back offers from leading Indian banks like ICICI and carriers like Jio.

It will be quite interesting to see the kind of response BlackBerry gets, once the phones are released into the market, as the price segments are quite competitive with competitors like OnePlus 6 and Nokia 7.
