Ball-tampering scandal – Steve Smith, David Warner to stand down

Another ‘Big Mistake’, I guess, has just happened by the Australian Cricket team captain, Steve Smith and this time it is the Ball Tampering.

The news picked the spark after Australian captain was seen tampering the ball on the field and responding to which he accepted that he did that.

This is not the first time that Steve Smith is the focus of any controversy, as a while back he was acting recklessly during the Bengaluru Test against India, which he dubbed as ‘Brain Fade’. But this time, it doesn’t really look that he was the caught by brain fade again, as the act recorded shows that what he did was completely intentional.

This act of Steve Smith has sparked great anger among the fans and former senior cricket players of Australia who are demanding resignation from the 28 year old player.

Responding to this incident, the Australian Cricket authority has decided that Steve Smith and David Warner have to stood down from the Captain and Vice-captain for the rest of the 3rd Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

“Following discussions with Steve Smith and David Warner they have agreed to stand down as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively for the remainder of this Test match,” Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said.

Replacing Steve Smith, Tim Paine will step in as Captain and both the accused players are going to play under his captaincy.
